Excursions, The Mediterranean Sea - The Grand ...

Elvin, Daniel, me and Jin, a girl from school who works for the Red Cross and hopes that by learning French she will be assigned to a location in Africa – so noble, all went to the Mediterranean Sea today. Montpellier is very close to the Mediterranean Sea. It was only a ten-minute tram ride. It was on my list because my mom loved it so in her recordings. There is a large population of flamingoes who call this delta home and some flocks also stop on their way to Africa. It was quite a sight to see. I had trouble getting a picture of them from a moving tram. So, I took a pic of a poster of some flying on a wall. Much better than what I could do!

Excursions, Roquefort - The Grand European ...

There really is a city named Roquefort where a cooperative operates to produce the pungent cheese. It clings to the mountainside where a massive earthquake rocked the region centuries ago that opened fissures which lead to huge caves. Legend has it a young shepard put some cheese in the cool caverns to preserve it.

Excursions, Larzac - The Grand European ...

On the first Saturday, we went out for a 10-hour excursion. One of the places we visited was La Couvertoirade, a medieval town established in the 1400’s by the Knights Templar looking to protect the villagers during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France – 1337-1453.

French Language School Experience - The Grand ...

Hello, I am currently attending an immersive French language school where no other language is spoken and my teacher speaks like a machine gun. And I really wish I had paid more attention to my English class so long ago. Verbs, irregular verbs (apparently don’t follow any rules), adverbs, adjectives, nouns, pronouns… nouns are all male or female, like table, chair, fork, spoon… and verbs change depending on if it is a man or woman is being discussed. Lots of exceptions and memorization needed. So how did it go?

The Why

My sisters and my friends cheer me on - “I believe in you!”  “You can do this.”  My detractors – although they’d never say it out loud and incur my wrath - have suggested, “Oh that. She’s been talking about that book for years. I doubt she will ever get it done.”

The Excuses

For more than 20 years now (I am embarrassed to admit), I have had an idea to write a book about my mom - - affectionately called “My Mom Book”. At my request in the 1990s, my mom recorded 20 cassette tapes about our family.
